We're here for you and we're ready to go. Let's do it. Good morning. Las Vegas. How are you doing on this fine Saturday morning. December 31 is almost the New Year. Are you ready, Leah?

Unknown Speaker 0:45
I'm ready. She ready? I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready. It is December 31.

Unknown Speaker 0:53
It is the last day of the year

Unknown Speaker 0:55
since the last the last day of the year. The time go. Where'd the time go? But let me tell you what I'm doing first thing tomorrow morning. What are you doing? Daniel fast.

Unknown Speaker 1:06
Are you starting to Daniel?

Unknown Speaker 1:07
Daniel fast tomorrow morning, Sunday morning for 21 days. I will give you an update every week. Okay, I will be reading scriptures I will be meditating. I will be doing a whole bunch of different stuff. I shall be in my Zen. Very, very much in my Zen. So I am excited. This is my first time actually doing a Daniel fast. But I think what I know I am looking forward to the process. I must so I might get a little punchy around day 14 not eat no meat and all that other stuff. Just on this Wi

Unknown Speaker 1:41
Fi my mother does it every year her and her church. They do it around Easter time. Okay. And she loves it. Her and her husband hope that their whole family they do it. They don't

Unknown Speaker 1:50
love you. Yeah, you know, I love you. How was your Christmas?

Unknown Speaker 1:52
It was fantastic. Little cold. But it was fantastic. But

Unknown Speaker 1:56
you want to know what I love it because I want to I love your mother. I love your mother because your mother made y'all get COVID test one year before y'all came. Right? She wasn't playing with you either told you where to go before you came into Bakley. Right? You had to test all right end of the year. Las Vegas, we're getting ready for tax season. I know you know we got a whole bunch of different things going on. Let's talk about what to talk about the things that you need to get together things you should do, you should start off before. Look, do your your review. Retired if you're retired, you know your retirement check was coming from so you're looking for you to 90 than our own home, you're looking for your mortgage statements. I know a lot of these documents can be found online but some of them still come in the mail. You know you're looking for your documents. If you've invested if you have a small business, good time, pull all your bank statements, put your financial statements together. Just see where your business is what you did last year, what you can do better, or what you've done well, you can continue doing. So. First week of the year. It's time to just look at your life and review. I know everybody makes those New Year's resolutions you know, I'm not a fan of New Year's resolutions. I'm like just make the change all the time. Always improve 1% a day. So happy well not happy. No Happy New Year this happy new year. Yes, we're almost there. Almost there. Happy Happy New Year. It's gonna be a new year 2023

Unknown Speaker 3:23
It's gonna be fabulous. Fab it's gonna be great all you entrepreneurs. Now it's time it'll be New Year's will be past all the holiday stuff. You know, people in hospitality will finally get a couple days off small break before the convention, Start Backup. But don't forget, it's all about self care. Don't forget about that. Whatever you need to do to make yourself bigger, better and stronger. So you can be a great you. You can lead your team and run your business. It's all about it. Now, have you all been getting up exercising every day. Remember, you should get up every morning and do some form of exercise even if just it's just getting out walking around the block, taking your dog for a walk or your cat or whatever animal you might have. Or if it's just you know, walking on your treadmill for 2030 minutes. Ride on your peloton bike for 2030 minutes. It's time to get it together. All the overeating must stop.

Unknown Speaker 4:15
Oh because you know for Thanksgiving, I turned my scale back 15 pounds. Oh boy, because I just didn't want you know, just, hey, hey, give me 15 pounds give me 15 pounds but the holiday season is over. It's time to get in shape. Try to get serious time to get serious and get in shape. I know we talked about before, things you need to do or just some some some good ways to start off the year. And I'm thinking why not a photoshoot. Right? branding yourself what are the things that we can do to brand ourselves?

Unknown Speaker 4:53
Well, you know the first thing is for all you business owners, you should have your business card digitally on your phone. So anytime you're out networking and meeting people. If you don't have a hard business card, you should have a a digital one. And that way another person can zap your phone and have all your contact information right away. So did you just set up a meeting or setup? To set up a meeting? Oh, so I'm talking about future business. How are you gonna digital card? Oh, yes, this app called Hi, hello. And hi. Hello is a digital app you can put on your phone, and you put in all your information, you know, telephone address, blah, blah, blah. Hi, hello. Hi, hello. And then all a person has to do when you pull up. Hi, hello. A person pulls it up. They scan. They scan your little QR code and bam they automatically have their information in your phone.

Unknown Speaker 5:39
Oh my god. So you are listening to the less talk with Leah and Rhonda show. I am Lea Crawford. I'm Rhonda Nolan.

Unknown Speaker 5:45
And we're so happy to be here with you on this beautiful Saturday morning. Going into the New Year. Welcome all the people from out of town who are here we have people from all over the world that come to Las Vegas to bring in a new year with us. So everybody from Asia, Japan, China, Europe, London, the Caribbean. Welcome to

Unknown Speaker 6:03
Las Vegas, even from the East Coast. You know, Welcome to Las Vegas. Welcome to law Yeah, East Coast.

Unknown Speaker 6:08
Now you know, California

Unknown Speaker 6:09
everybody's here, everybody, California. Everybody's in town to see they saw the fire. Well, they're gonna see the fireworks tonight. Yeah,

Unknown Speaker 6:16
fireworks are gonna happen tonight, they got to close the strip down, I believe about six o'clock. And so people will be able to come out of their hotels and look up and see all the fireworks will be going off. I'll be very nice.

Unknown Speaker 6:26
So if you are a local, just remember tonight, the streets the strip is blocked off, you cannot go down the strip. I don't think you can exit off the freeways and certain exits, but certain exits will be blocked off. You know. Just know before you go out and more importantly, guys be safe. Yes. To be safe tonight. If you are drinking because I know people will be drinking tonight. call an Uber, call an Uber have arrived, call a friend. Please don't drive drunk. And not tonight.

Unknown Speaker 6:59
And if you're used to shooting guns a year, let's not do that this year, let's try to keep everybody safe because you know, bullets have no eyes. So you know, let's let's let's let's do a sparkle, sparkle, sparkle. A little bit better. But you know, if you don't refrain from shooting your gun tonight and scaring your neighbors, that would be great.

Unknown Speaker 7:19
That would be amazing. So coming into the new year, I know there, people always talk about what grants are out there. I want to say that T T AP, it is teep is still out there for you small business owners in unincorporated Clark County, go to the Clark County website, the application is there. If you're looking for a grant for your small business that is there also for the city of Las Vegas on their site, they have a bunch of grants that are out there, you need to go and look through the different grants that are being offered for small businesses. I know for the historic west side, they're too specific for that side of town. So if you're looking for grants or you know someone that could be looking for grants go to the city of Las Vegas, his website, the informations there. And I think the grant closes on January 15.

Unknown Speaker 8:08
So you got to get busy because that the tip grant, the T AP is a two part grant, you do the first application and you send in some information about your business and they check you out first, and then they invite you to come to actually apply for the grant. So that's in two parts, but you can do it now again, if you live in unincorporated Clark County, that is the grant for you

Unknown Speaker 8:25
got it. And guys, I want to put this information out there because I know even though we are, we seem to be out of the pandemic. I call this our ripple effect. Because this is the ripple effect of what happens after you know, some businesses were able to make it congratulations, some businesses didn't do as well. I'm sure you will come up with something, you know, come up with something else. A lot of people started new businesses during this time. So whatever wherever you are, just know that stay on your path. I'm sure you know, whatever, whatever your life plan is, you know, it's gonna work out for you it sure

Unknown Speaker 9:02
it sure is it sure you're working on yourself working on your plan and working on your business. And hey, if you're starting a brand new business, now's the time, get all your documents and paperwork ready, get your credit card ready because when you apply for your licensing for the state of Nevada and the city of Las Vegas, you'd have to have yourself together. But now is the time to step out on faith and make it happen. Who has a great idea out there who wants to talk to us about the idea. Next year, we're going to be coming out and visiting some of your small businesses. We're going to be showcased some of your small businesses and helping people know where you are and what you do. So if you would like to be featured on the less awkward Lea and Rhonda show, you can contact us at

Unknown Speaker 9:45
702-908-9577

that 702-908-9577 Give us a call and we'll come out and visit your business and we'll show contact

Unknown Speaker 9:57
us on our show. Oh, we are showcasing you. So the idea is that we want other small businesses to get just some of the, the traction. That's right. Talk about the business. Talk about the business owner. I am excited. I know we have some lined up starting next week. Yep. And I think that it's going to be nice to be out in the community and for people to I mean, you might have heard of a restaurant but now to learn the story. Learn the menu items. I mean, you never know what you might come up with. I'm excited because I want to do seafood restaurant.

Unknown Speaker 10:30
Yes. Oh, and by the way, ladies and gentlemen will be on every week. Every week will be on every week. Every Saturday morning, you'll be with us. And you will learn about other new businesses and other tips and tricks for your business as well.

Unknown Speaker 10:43
Again, my name is Leah Crawford.

Unknown Speaker 10:45
My name is Rhonda Nolan and you're listening to Let's Talk with Leah and Rhonda aka u and v 91.5. Jazz and more fully what you got what you got happening tonight. What you're doing tonight is New Year's Eve. What's happening?

Unknown Speaker 10:56
Okay, so tax season is coming. And first of all, I have to tell you, I have to check to make sure that I have all my continuing education units. Oh boy. So I'll be doing that first. Okay. I'm working on myself first. So when I leave here, I'm gonna go home and I'm gonna sit in front of my computer and I'm gonna look to see how many hours I have how many hours I need and do those first. Then I am going to dinner. I think one dinner with you. Okay, so I think we're going to dinner. Going to dinner and I'll be outside. I'm gonna dress warm and I have a coat. Yeah, just in case we get stuck on a strip. I don't know where I'm gonna park. I might walk up. You might walk on my walk.

Unknown Speaker 11:34
I think you'd be okay. I think you'd be able to park your car. I think I'll be able to park the car. I think so. Okay, well, I'll

Unknown Speaker 11:40
find someplace to park. Yeah. Okay, thanks. So, but walking might be good to walk back home. Correct? That that might not be the fun, but then I can walk to the other side. And I can Overbeck See, I'm just trying to be responsible. You could? Well, we'll see. We'll see how it goes. We'll see how it goes. Well, I think it's gonna be I think it's gonna we're going to have fun tonight, we're going to have fun and I I am looking forward to getting to meeting the new business owners like I said, and it doesn't matter what industry if you are a small business owner, or if you know a small business owner, that would like to be featured on the show, because we know a lot of businesses but we are open to meeting new new business owners, seasoned business owners, some good restaurants and people that maybe have a trinket that they're selling a call to trinket just something that that they're selling, maybe they have an idea. We are open, ready and willing, we want to meet you and to put your business on the air so that other people can know about what you do. I mean, if you're a printing company, you know, we want to know that because some of us might have printing needs, right? If you technology companies, because I know some people specialize in technology, helping people with technology, we we want to hear from you. If you beauty beauty salon, women get their hair done all the time. If you're a barber, we want to hear we want to hear your story, your journey in getting that barbershop you know, what are your ideas we we want to hear from you of nail techs? esthetician there's not an industry that we don't want to touch coffee shop, coffee shops, restaurants, restaurants, you know, we want to know what we should we should specialize in do neighborhoods, maybe do a section among everybody do that, that might that might work that way. We're in a specific area of town and we get to know different people get to know different and the services that they provide. Right. And why did they why did they get into that industry?

Unknown Speaker 13:30
Speaking of new companies, I went to a beautiful new business a couple of weeks ago, called the speakeasy candle shop. And it was fantastic.

Unknown Speaker 13:42
It was absolutely amazing. And if you're looking for a candle making experience, a candle making experience, it is in the southwest side of town. It was a little interesting to get to. Because we were I mean, it's a lot of construction going on right now. Right? A lot of new cars, a lot of new construction going on right now. But it was it was it was very it's a candle shot. And you had to ask about the candle making for her to open up the doors like a speakeasy for you to see the back. But it looks like it's an amazing experience. And we are looking to go there someday to one. One weekend.

Unknown Speaker 14:20
Yes. And all the candles are named after classic cocktails. And I'm going to tell you something. I bought several candles that day so that Miss Leah and I used mine on my trip because I bought a travel candle. It smelled really, really nice.

Unknown Speaker 14:33
Which one did you use?

Unknown Speaker 14:34
I believe it was the Hemingway Oh, and it was really it was really very beautiful. It wasn't overbearing and it just made the bathroom smell very very nice because I use mine in the bathroom of where I was staying. See

Unknown Speaker 14:46
I had gin and tonic. I had gin and tonic genic tonic smells are over two. Okay, smells very good. But if you're looking for an experience, it's speakeasy candle speakeasy candle and we will get that address instead. for you, because I thought I had it written down here. But I don't have it written down here.

Unknown Speaker 15:04
But he has a wonderful place and it's a wonderful experience. If you're looking to do something with your family, if they're in town, you know, pass a new year, then absolutely go to their website and check them out because they have candlemaking classes that you might be interested in, in participating in.

Unknown Speaker 15:19
Write her address is 6817 Helen tolling Street, Suite 110. A Las Vegas, Nevada 89113. The phone number that we have on here is 725-204-9847. Again, 725-204-9847. And it is Speak Easy candle. Like I said, it's an amazing place. They got amazing. 20 more reviews out here. And it's a different type of experience going in and making the candle Yeah,

Unknown Speaker 15:55
it's very relaxing, very relaxing for all for all you business owners that will be going on vacation past the new year. That's one of the beautiful things you can do for yourself. You also schedule yourself for a massage, it's time for a massage, you know, get those kinks worked out or visit your chiropractors but it's time to work on you please first couple of weeks of January before you jump back in and go back on 500

Unknown Speaker 16:19
yet but that's the other thing too though. Maybe we need to bring some dentists in here and maybe some doctor absolutely I think we go I think this is gonna be interesting round every week talking to somebody different talking about their business. While and more importantly meeting the people in and around Las Vegas right? around Las Vegas when UNLV campus we're bringing more UNLV campus we'll have a conversation with them. If you are if you know someone if small business owner just starting out or seasoned business owner, please contact us at 702-908-9577 Again 702-908-9577. We are looking forward because we are also going to have someone that personal development. So Jessie and Lisa are going to come on the show with us fantasy Elise are going to come on they wrote a new book. Fantastic. So in them writing their book again, I love them because they do everything, everything together a lot together. And the first book was how you leave them feeling. The second book is how you leave them feeling but is your foundation for inspiring love and relationships. So I love it because they just really gets in and talks about you. How do you work on you? What are the different things that you can do? So work on you. So I am excited. He is actually sending us the book. Fantastic so that we can read it before he comes on the show. And I want to say that we have him slated for the end of January. Okay. The other thing that we're going to do is investments. We always talk about investments, what to do people talk about investments, what to do with money, where we want to bring it on the air wonder we're going to talk to an investment advisor. And he's going to give us some tips going into the new year things that we can do with our money. Yes, we can do it on Monday. So I am very excited about the new platform about what we do. Because we are Rhonda and I have our own businesses. We want to promote other businesses. We sure do. Sure do. We sure do. Again, my name is Leah Crawford.

Unknown Speaker 18:33
My name is Rhonda Noah you've been listening to Let's Talk with Lee and Rhonda on K u and v 91.5. But we are so happy to be here with you today on the last day of the year. Whoo whoo

Unknown Speaker 18:46
tax season. We got 10 minutes taxis and taxis is coming. And I had some very interesting questions asked the past couple of days people were asking me how do I get ready. And what I can say is they're going to as always, there are some changes in the tax code. I mean, the form changed about two years ago. A lot of changes, waiting for the next week to read through and I am going to do a seminar at the Urban Chamber of Commerce and I'll give the information of wares I don't have the venue yet. But we're doing a seminar with the Urban Chamber of Commerce to talk about tax changes. Other thing is if you're looking for new tax Hall, you are looking for prepare you are new to Vegas. We are here we are located in Las Vegas and we are accepting new clients. Our We are located downtown Las Vegas, you can contact us at 702-382-5737 Again 70238 to 5737 What I love about our office is it's comfortable. It's customized it's I mean when when you come in near You are our VIP, right? So like Vegas is VIP city, you are our VIP client. And we treat you as such, we make sure that you are comfortable because we understand that when you're talking about your finances, you kind of want to be in a private place. Right? Having a one on one conversation. Yeah. And we want you to feel comfortable, you know, we give you come in, introduced, Jen introduces yourself Brenda's there. And we talk to you, we work with you, we listen to you, you're not just a number to us, we don't just rush you in a rush you out because we got to get more people in here. Now, we take the time that listen, our average interview was about two hours or so depending on what type of return you have. And we are more than capable because we do small businesses. We do nonprofits, we even do trust now. Oh, wow. Trust started doing trust returns, as well as personal returns. And we are more than capable to handle like I told you, I'm going home after this to make sure that I got all my continuing education units. And continue reading, I might even do some to start off next year off right so that I have some for next year's Well,

Unknown Speaker 21:05
that sounds good. And for all you businesses that have w two employees, well, the 940. Once I do, it's time to get that little final last fourth quarter tax payment and to the IRS for your employees, and then boom, then it's time to get ready to get those documents ready to send to your employees so they can do their taxes for next year.

Unknown Speaker 21:26
And we will talk about that next week. So when we open the show next week, we're going to go through because the 940 ones are due at the end into January to W twos are also due. And then for the state of Nevada, you have other forms that you have to do your quarterly forms are also due at the end of the quarter. So not knowing is is hard because the penalties for not knowing right. And then we'll get into some due dates and everything next week with some forms and stuff. And let people know just to update every week a tax update. Yeah. So that we know what's going on. What I can tell you is I was reading AICPA so American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and came through real quick PPP loans. So PPP loans are not taxable. Okay, right. Unless they were gotten illegally. Okay, then this income, okay. And I was like, huh,

Unknown Speaker 22:22
how do you determine? That's what I'm confused.

Unknown Speaker 22:24
I that's what I say. That's what I said. But I left it there. And I just was like, Oh, interesting. What PPP. So have you got the forgiveness on your PPP loan, it's not taxable income to you. And they kept saying it's not taxable income to you, it's not taxable income to you. But to continue that conversation, you can contact us 702-382-5737, again, 702-382-5737. And they've always stated, if you've got the economic injury, disaster loan, that is alone, it is to be repaid. It is alone, it is to be repaid. There is no forgiveness for it right now. Right, it is alone, I'm gonna say it again, it is to be repaid. Because I know people were looking for that to also be forgiven. And it's not

Unknown Speaker 23:08
right. Yeah, I know, people who've been paying for some time now. Because actually, they had to start paying it back last year. So I know there are some people who have started to pay this back. And then there's others who have deferred their payment. But if your business is doing well, and you're making money, you probably want to start paying that loan back because it will not be a grant.

Unknown Speaker 23:26
That's not a grant. That's not a grant and it's not going away, but you want to do something, you don't want to not pay it and not do any communication with them. Right? So you want to communicate with them, let them know if you're able to pay and if you're not able to pay, right it's it's not one of those things where they go, Oh, I'm gonna come get you, right. Oh, now if you don't contact them, and they're contacting you, we don't know what the fallout of that's going to be right? But contact them. So if your business is doing well, you can repay start repaying, right, if you're not doing well pay them something. Yes. And if you have to go into deferment, contact them and let them know. Yeah, because they are open and they will listen it is the SBA. That's the best thing to do. But that's the best thing to do with anything with IRS issues. You know, just letting them sit there. That's not the answer. Right? That's not the answer. So they send you a letter open it read it Yes. See what they're saying. Right you know response right. Let them respond back to you have a conversation with them right that's why as let's talk with Lee and Ron

Unknown Speaker 24:25
talk about let's talk about this thing we can everything can be straightened out everything everything everything is negotiable. Yeah, um Don't be scared of IRS you can work everything out work everything

Unknown Speaker 24:35
out you know because of me because my first line of defense with everything is I don't agree with this bill. Right. Let's talk about that. Let's take time to understand helped me to understand why you say I owe you this right now sometimes the the bills are legit. Yeah, made the money. But then let's talk about it because if you are planning and as you're earning money Looking at your numbers on a regular basis, then you're putting away certain amount of money to be able to pay the tax bill. So when you get your taxes done, tax bill was due, you paid a bill, right? And sometimes we had the misconception Well, I extended my return, yes, you extended the time for you to file your return right? Payment is due by April 14. Okay. Payment is due by April 15. So it's very good. Even if you know that your what you think you're going to owe. Get the return done. So you know how much is right. Okay. What we do for our for most of our clients that we know that are not good at paying them? Yeah, pay estimated limit estimated payments. Yeah, we estimate how much you're going to owe. We make that estimated payment based off of your numbers. And if you just one month, you just you make a whole one quarter you do very well. We increase the estimated payment. Right. Okay. And then we do your tax return to see what the payments should have been. And depending on then most people have more complicated returns because they have small businesses and they have rental property, and they have all this other stuff going on. Right. So once we put together the tax return, we can see what your liability is. And if you've been putting away a little bit of money all year long. Got that account owe them $1,000 I got 3000 in the bank, right. I paid them $1,000 And I'm off to putting my money off to the races. But again, I am Lea Crawford, my

Unknown Speaker 26:24
