Good morning Good morning, Las Vegas. How are you doing?

Unknown Speaker 0:32
Good morning. Oh, welcome.

Unknown Speaker 0:35
Let's talk with Leah and Rhonda. I'm Rhonda Nolan. My partner is Lea Crawford and we are here this beautiful Saturday morning December 19. is almost Christmas. Oh,

Unknown Speaker 0:47
guess what today is my baby's 25th Birthday. Happy Birthday Aliyah I love you. I love you. Mommy loves you. Sending you all the hugs loves and kisses from Las Vegas. You are 25 years old and my baby graduates with a JD MBA. May 2021.

Unknown Speaker 1:08
Congrats. Mommy proud mommy.

Unknown Speaker 1:13
Happy birthday, baby. I love you. I love you. I love you. What are we talking about today, Ron? Well, what

Unknown Speaker 1:19
are we talking about? Well, it's almost holiday time. And small businesses are trying to determine you know how they're going to make it through this holiday period. And beyond that, you know, the Electoral College finally turned in their votes this week. So got a bison in the VP house. Yeah. So they're the Howard bison and the VP slot along with a President Biden, so they are officially in. So their integration will happen on January 21 2021. With that being said the Congress is back in order back in session back discussing this next Cares Act Bill was coming out. This should take care of a lot of folks here in the United States. They're talking about extending unemployment for additional 13 weeks. They're talking about adding on money on top of it unemployment, and they're talking about PPP, help for small businesses. Got it?

Unknown Speaker 2:06
I think they made a decision last night though.

Unknown Speaker 2:08
They did but they haven't signed the paperwork hasn't been signed to orgasm assign Okay, so we're thinking that tomorrow the actual paperwork will be signed Monday, probably tomorrow night in Oman and you never know and then they're after funds will be dispersed and I believe in addition to all that, they're also giving out an another stimulus check. That's another compensation is being held right now.

Unknown Speaker 2:30
Nice. So more money is So Merry Christmas, everybody more money is coming. More money is coming more money is coming. Because I know it's been a hard time for a lot of people. I mean, our numbers in the vat are going up. COVID-19 is real. It's real. It's real. And stay safe. Wear your mask, wear your mask and I know we're here ready to go into one of our busiest season because New Year's Eve is a big deal here in Las Vegas. A lot of people come to see you know, just just to be in and around. It's a big party New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. But

Unknown Speaker 3:02
there'll be no parties on the strip this year. MGM Caesars they're all doing virtual concerts nice. And so people will be able to tune in and see those artists perform which I'm very happy about that. But won't be like you know, years before where we had a half a million people outside on Las Vegas Boulevard watching all the fabulous fireworks

Unknown Speaker 3:20
Oh, and I've been caught up in that traffic I love it. I do I do I do sometimes I've watched it from from from camping like from mountain tops and sometimes like from the from, from Red Rock up in that area because you can see the city very good in Summerlin. And even I'm on the east side if you're up and you can see the city you can see the mountains I mean, I'm sorry, see the strip and see the firework show. So gonna be something different this year. This year has been different though it has been this year has been different, a lot of different things going on. I know you had to recreate your business, I recreated my business had to add some additional services so that we can make it through the year. But we are about to go when it's 2021.

Unknown Speaker 3:58
I'm so glad and right now I'm very excited that new vaccine is here. One of the companies who produce it as Pfizer. And so some of some of our first responders had been receiving the medication this week, you know, our doctors are our firemen, our police officers, so that's great. So they're going to be doing this vaccine in waves. And it's not just one vaccine, it's it's one vaccine, but you have to take two shots, take two so you have to come in and get your first shot. And then about four to six weeks later you get your second shot. So they're rolling that out trying to make sure that this academy gets back on track. You know, we honestly I hope that we're back on track by June I hope that we can get some type of semblance of, you know, realness back by June although it might not be back. I'm just crossing my fingers that if everything works out with the vaccines and people start taking them and people are following the instructions that we can get back to business sooner than later.

Unknown Speaker 4:51
Yeah, I mean, because that don't get me wrong. I love being in house. I love I love spending time with my family but I am ready to go and go somewhere else. dinner without a mask on. And just just do different and just do different things.

Unknown Speaker 5:04
Don't forget this holiday season to support your small businesses, you can support them by placing dinner orders and picking yours up curbside, or you can support them by going in. But you have to make a reservation, there's no more walking up getting your name put on the list or walking up sitting at the bar. So you have to make your reservations in advance. So if you're going to, you know, not cook for Christmas, make sure you get just some great food from different restaurants around the area. And then for New Year's Eve, you decide you don't want to cook, make sure you make your reservations and make sure you do your pickup help support our small restaurants and bars because they need our support.

Unknown Speaker 5:36
They need our support they need us, they do need our support. Let's talk about these, these loans because I know pets is just funding sending out there congratulations. And making sure that people and pets is the program that came out through Nevada through the state of Nevada through the treasurer's office. And I want to tell you guys documentation, documentation documentation, if you have your documentation in order, you were able to apply for this grant. It was 10,000 for small businesses, and I think up to 20,000 for nonprofits, huge. More importantly, if you do get the grant because I am guilty. I preached documentation, but I didn't read the fine print, I forgot to sign my agreement, which held up my funds, go through his own zoom grants, if you did apply for pets, read your congratulations letter go to the page that says what was it documents? Or what was it?

Unknown Speaker 6:29
Yes. So when you get approved to receive a Pell Grant, you will receive a letter that tells you to go to the document page to sign the agreement first. And then the transfer of funds sign the agreement. So you have you know, you're so excited you got the money, you know what to do. So put you put your bank or where you put your bank if you go and put in your transfer of banking information there to get the money, but then you forget to sign the agreement saying what you're going to do with the money. So So you need to sign the agreement first. And then put in your banking information. Congratulations to all those small businesses that did receive a pet loan also, Grant also they they haven't notified all the nonprofits yet. So keep your ears open nonprofits should be hearing from them soon, if you put in an application for the

Unknown Speaker 7:12
pitch grant. So you can also go to your login with Zoom grants. And on that page, it gives you the details about what's going on. There different links, you know, and zoom grants. I know it was moving very slow, just be patient, let it load up. And all the information is there you can see when your application was accepted, if it's in where it is in the process. And once it is approved, it'd be a congratulations. Now you're just waiting for your funding, but sign your agreement. I know I missed that because I was so excited. Sign your agreement. Because if you don't if something is wrong with your application, there's a red flag that is by your business name. Just find out what the red flag is fix the error and move on.

Unknown Speaker 7:51
Yep. And then if you apply it for a stabilization, three grant and unincorporated Clark County, you can still apply for that as zooms.com.

Unknown Speaker 7:58
Okay, so that is for businesses that are in unincorporated Clark County. Again, business licenses, you know what jurisdiction you're in because you had to go through and get the business license. So you know who you got to business license from? Did you get it from the city of North Las Vegas? Did you get it from the city of Las Vegas? Did you get it from the City of Henderson? Or did you get it from unincorporated Clark County? If you are one of the unincorporated Clark County Business owners apply for that grant because that grain is out there, those those funds are out there. And I think they're still taking applications they are

Unknown Speaker 8:31
still taking applications. It for the first grants for $15,000 for under 100 100 and under employees and over 30,000 So if you have not taken the time to do so, please go to zoom grants.com and look for the stabilization grant number three. Number three, they are still taking applications they were not overwhelmed. Like the pets grant like

Unknown Speaker 8:51
the pencil grant. Okay, got it. Got it because it's for the is for Clark hands for Clark County business license holders. I want to say guys, if we haven't learned anything during this pandemic, I know for me, it was a lot of time, I spent a lot of time by myself because I was in the house and just really clean my house. Right? cleaning my house first and just doing different things. Little home improvement. Can I tell you Home Depot probably was one of the busiest stores during this pandemic because every time I went, it was a lot of people. So a lot of people were doing little like little home DIY projects in and around the house. But what I can tell you is it's a chance for you to it's like a restart. Or re I mean just you know you got you because you had to sit down and and work through some stuff. You know, you have some time because it wasn't as many activities going on. It wasn't you hadn't even gotten here for dinner here. This meeting that meeting doing just just busy. You can slow down it was a good reset. Awesome reset. And this reset is going to continue a little bit longer. So if you're stuck Already a small business and you need help need more information, you know, you want to run some ideas by us for more information, because we do we call them whiteboarding session sessions where you we throw up and we can we get your ideas out on paper 702-382-5737. Or better yet, you can contact us for more information at 702-382-5737. Again, 702-382-5737. I am Leah Crawford. And that is,

Unknown Speaker 10:31
and I'm Rhonda Nolan. And you can see what we look like on Facebook, we have a fantastic fake Facebook page called Let's Talk with Leah and Rhonda and very soon we will be broadcasting live on Facebook on that page. So that's, that's something that's coming in 2021

Unknown Speaker 10:45
and 2021. Yeah, because neurons is the marketing person, you know, and I'm gonna ask them like, right away, we don't work them when we marketing we mark but we did we had, I can tell you that. Through this pandemic, I've learned a lot about me, I've learned a lot about other people. I mean, it's just been a wealth of information, just just being able to sit still and let energy just flow and glow and Grow and Glow. And business owners, most small business owners, if you want to be a small business owners, now's a chance because there's a lot of opportunity out there, you know, if you are selling PPE equipment, you know, selling mask, few other businesses, learning about the virtual world, how to have virtual conferences, getting your information out there a whole bunch of ways that I learned how to use Facebook ads and Instagram ads, to get the business out there. All that stuff became, I mean, I just started doing it during this pandemic. So I you know, COVID has been hard that lost some family members, some friends, but I am grateful that I am I'm here. I am here. Yes, you

Unknown Speaker 11:52
are. You are still here. And you still have business clients that need your services. And that's a blessing in and of itself. Yes. And it's a wonderful thing.

Unknown Speaker 12:01
That's a wonderful thing. It's a wonderful thing. So you got so let's talk about it again, having your is a New Year common tax season is around the corner. And we were talking about this people that received the PPP funds. And as it stands right now, the IRS has stated and I'm hoping that it changes that the expenses incurred that you paid with the PPP funds are not deductible because your loan can be forgiven. What I want to tell you is the title of the final guidance is not out yet. I am a tax professional tax practitioner, we are waiting for the final guidance. My suggestion for business owners, my professional opinion is when the forms come out file extensions, everybody file extensions, file extensions, and we because we need a final decision on how to handle these PPP loans, how to handle these PPP loans. So if you are one of our clients or you know, CPA, you go to a tax practitioner, if you receive that PPP, those PPP funds, file and extension. That's my professional opinion. And so we get guidance on what is how do we handle these funds? How do we handle these funds, because if those expenses aren't deductible, that could change your tax return, and you want to give the IRS a good tax return.

Unknown Speaker 13:23
That's right. And considering the IRS has 5 million 5 million paper returned that they have not even started to complete because of COVID, you do not want to get lost in the shuffle of next year, don't get lost in this stuff. And there's a second round of PPP coming out when they finished signing up on the bill tomorrow or Monday. So if you were a small business owner, you received PPP the first time, more than likely you're going to receive it again. And you're probably going to receive it from the same bank, you got the first one from

Unknown Speaker 13:55
and let's talk about that loan forgiveness. So I got my loan through a major bank, and I haven't gotten my loan forgiveness paperwork yet. And I don't know why. And I call and they they just simply say it's common. What I can tell you is guys be patient, just know that you have to check your emails, check your spam, because I know everyone's waiting for the guidance, they only want to do it one time, we don't want to go back and do it again. But there are certain things you have to have if you spent the money per the per the guidelines 60% had to be spent on payroll of the 40% or other business expenses, and you have to document how you spent the money. What that means is you got the loan and we're going to just throw a number out there you got a loan for $20,000 $20,000 went into your bank account, they want to see how you spent the money. If you spent 60% of 20,000 on payroll that means you spent $12,000 on payroll, you have to show where through paychecks timesheets, paychecks and timesheets, where you spent that money and then how those how those checks actually came out of your bank account. out, they want to see a flow. Because we're dealing with government funds. And they like a lot of paper, we're dealing with the government, they want to see the flow of how you spent that money. If you spent the money on your rent for your rent a lease agreement, showing the payee the lease or showing the amount that you were to pay them, and then showing the cheque where you paid them and the cheque coming through your bank account, all those things need to match, you need to show we're how you spent this $20,000. Same thing with Nevada energy southwest gas bill should be in your company's name, same company that you got the loan in, okay, less conversation, less conversation. But I would like I was explaining to you before Ron, that the challenge is because sole proprietors also got this far, while just

Unknown Speaker 15:42
gonna write say, for independent contractors and sole proprietors, you had to pay yourself and you also had to take out the taxes, you also this month the taxes are due, this is the fourth quarter of the year. And if you received PPP money as an independent contractor and you paid yourself, you need to send the IRS a check by January 13. That is correct. So you can send them the actual amount of taxes due on set amount of money you received. Or you can send them a percentage, but you have to send them a check, letting them know that this goes towards your taxes for next so

Unknown Speaker 16:15
if you are a do it yourselfer, and a tax world and you got PPP funds, I would encourage you to go to a tax practitioner. And I'm using the word strategically and reason why I say practitioner because you want to go to someone that basically is taking the time to learn about this, you want to go to a professional prefer practitioners, the CPAs, I mean, the EAS people that are really are vested in this and basically can defend whatever stuff that they put on your I mean, the numbers that they put on your tax return because they know that their licenses are at stake. So they're going to take time to do the due diligence upfront. To ensure that you are presenting you know, a good return, especially if you do it yourselfer. It's a lot of new rules out there, things are being thrown out there things are being thrown around, and you just want to you just want to align yourself right now with people that are going to get it done, get it done professionally, and can explain to you what you should and should not do.

Unknown Speaker 17:16
And if you use a tax, if you use a payroll service like ADP, or one of those, they've they've paid the money out that collected the taxes, they're going to send that money in to the IRS for you on your behalf.

Unknown Speaker 17:26
But they also give you reports and they have been doing. It's so funny because I have a few clients, they use the payroll services, and they have COVID-19 reports, even QuickBooks, they have COVID-19 reports because they understand the documentation that they're asking for. So they try to make it simpler for you if you're using a payroll service and you pay yourself that way. But I can tell you having your documentation order is very important paying those state license fees getting a state business license, because that says that you are eligible to do business in the state of Nevada, then having your jurisdiction license if especially if you're a brick and mortar if your home based business guess what they as a business license for you to depend on where your home is, it sure

Unknown Speaker 18:04
is a home based business license. That's what that's correct. There is a Clark County business license. And if there's a state of Nevada business license, no matter where your business is, whether you have a storefront or whether you're in your home, you should probably have more than one license more

Unknown Speaker 18:18
than one license. Yes, you should have more than one license more than one license. Rhonda, I want to tell you if this has been I mean, we during this, I remember having the first conversations because it was scary. It was scary. But now it's like we've embraced it. And embracing the change and understanding that we are helping people to get their documents in order, you know, we're not going to beat you up because you didn't have it in order. We're going to help you to get it in order. If you want more information, and you want to talk to us and really, you know, just delve into your business have a conversation, you can contact us for more information at 702-382-5737. Again, 702-382-5737.

Unknown Speaker 19:02
Today, I was on a call with Congressman Steven Horsford. Got it. And he talked a lot about the COVID-19 vaccine and how they're going to roll it out in Nevada. But he also talked a lot about PPP and Pua. And there was a caller that called in on the line that said he was a musician and that he had a studio, but that he was unable to get Pua and he was unable to get PPP. I want you to know if that listener is listening to our show, you need to contact us, you need to contact us for more information for more information because people in the entertainment business do qualify for Pua and do qualify for PPP. And we can help you with that.

Unknown Speaker 19:41
We can help you with that. Again, this is Leah and Rhonda. Our number is 702-382-5737. Again, 702-382-5737 musicians entertainers a lot in this in this area especially, you know Yeah, they were eligible because they're not working gates, correct. You're not working because

Unknown Speaker 20:01
you are you are an independent contractor. Ie you're a sole proprietor, sole proprietor. Yeah. And sole proprietors, guess what people, they have licenses, sole proprietors have licenses in the state of Nevada, and in Clark County. So if you have those licenses in place for your business, as an independent contractor, sole proprietor, you too can qualify for the monies that are out there.

Unknown Speaker 20:27
And we figured out a way because we've been getting people funding. You sure, have you been getting people funded, we've had a huge success rate. We're getting people funded, working through the loopholes, figuring out what documentation they needed, in order for them to get funded, because the most of them had the documentation possibly didn't understand what they were asking for. And we were a we've been successful in getting people funded, bringing them into office getting them funded. And the good thing is, is that when you come into our office, we had the six feet rule, we have enough space. We don't overcrowd we booked one person at a time it to ensure that you know, we're being safe. And we're just following this. Notice the guidelines on social distancing. More importantly, we work with you, we work with you to ensure that we can provide the best service provide the best because our end goal is to make sure that you financially can make it through this crisis exactly financially can make

Unknown Speaker 21:22
it through we are here to help small and medium sized businesses. Yes, because we know that sometimes you need a little help.

Unknown Speaker 21:28
Need a little help need a little help need a little help. Well, this is Leah and Rhonda. Again, our number is 702-382-5737 I'm loving the music too. Oh my god, I'm loving the music 702-382-5737. documents, documents, documents. Gotta have your documents in order. I know we had Cory Booker on attorney Cory Booker Napoli book I'm sorry. I forgot his last name, but that's just one blank. Because he's right next door to me. 431 South Sixth Street. Yes. He's right. Cory Beck. Booker's bet, Cory, Cory, but because Cory was talking about the rent more because the rent moratorium was back in the rent and more while the rent moratorium is back. And for extra things has been extended. Oh, really? Right. And he was talking about, I think, because the moratorium was being lifted in October, and for the mortgages, and he was talking about bankruptcy and what your bankruptcy options are? You know, I know people are thinking about so many things now, because they're thinking about how they can survive through this. I want to bring them back on Ron, because I want to have that conversation again in January. So let's, let's talk about that. Let's get them back in here to see exactly what's going on, because I think it was extended again through January 15.

Unknown Speaker 22:40
And if you closed your business for some for a particular reason. Now it is time to reinvent yourself. Yeah, it is time to determine, Okay, business a close? What is business be going to be? What is business see going to be? And what are you doing? What's your free time, right now is the perfect time to go back to school, it's the perfect time to finish those classes to get your degree, it's a perfect time to take any classes where you get a certificate and you become proficient in the area that you're not, this is the perfect time to do it. If I were you, if I was anybody out there that was a small business owner, you had a little bit of extra time on your hands, I would absolutely sign up for a class, it could be a computer class, it could be an accounting class, it could be a cooking class, it could be a digital marketing class, it could be anything. But right now we have to keep our minds going and keep our minds sharp. And now is the time to level up,

Unknown Speaker 23:31
level up, level up to level up to level up you got to level up and you got to continue to grow. And that's what I was talking about during the growth process because you know, I took on a huge, but I'm not gonna talk about a huge, huge project during this time. And I'm glad I did because I was before was just too busy and didn't make the time to make this happen. And now I'm shut down a little bit. I'm making it happen little by little and I love the fact that even the people around me are supportive because I know people are going to zoom meetings back to back but if you're if you were if you're working from home now used to going into the office, you got some time back because some people are still working, working from home and I'm watching people working now seeing the pictures on a different social media platforms and know people working out doing different things just just really a reset. It's been awesome reset. People

Unknown Speaker 24:22
are making what used to be drive time count for them now.

Unknown Speaker 24:25
Yes. So

Unknown Speaker 24:26
they're working out. They're reading a book, you know, they're watching a podcast, you're listening to a podcast, they're doing all types of things to better themselves. Now's the time to better yourself.

Unknown Speaker 24:36
Now's the time to better yourself better yourself and in that if you are still in business, make sure that your documents are in order. I can't say it enough, because the problems that it was very easy for those of us that had our documents or when when the money came out. We're able to apply apply easily applied quickly. Because we got our documents we got our state business license, we got our our other our jurisdictional business licenses, and we were able to apply I get funded and get funded. The other thing is, is that I know there's gonna be a whole lot of different programs I mean talking about I want to talk about, you know, credit repair, helping people get their credit in order because I know that was a problem with some of the SBA loans you didn't have the credit score, even though they said don't self denied, just apply PPP, there was no credit score requirement before the idle loan economic injury disaster loan there was so just want to help people just just to be in order, just just have your ducks in a row, have your ducks in a row so that you, you too, can get these funds because these funds were very helpful. And keeping some small businesses open during this period, helping people stay off unemployment, paying people so that they can make it through pay their bills. And just make it through this this was this was a very interesting time. Very interesting time. And my condolences to anyone that has lost a family member or co workers friends. I know there's been a lot of death around my control our condolences to you with that, but just know that if you're alive, you kick in, it's time to reinvent yourself. There's a lot of opportunity out here and you have to find what that opportunity is for you. And we're here to assist you with that if you want more information. Please feel free to contact us 702-382-5737 Rhonda crop and Rhonda Nolan and Lisa Rhonda Rhonda Nolan and Leah Crawford. We are partners in crime you can see us around town together we are normally together having a good time.
